Hulu has quickly canceled a planned reality series starring Sean “Diddy” Combs and his family, following a litany of sexual assault allegations against the music tycoon.
The show, named Diddy+7, was in the works but has been put on hold indefinitely due to ongoing legal issues.
Combs was the subject of many lawsuits from women accusing him of sexual assault and harassment.
In November 2023, his ex-partner, singer Cassie, filed a lawsuit alleging a decade of abuse, and other women have made similar claims. Combs has categorically refuted all charges.
“We have made the difficult decision to not move forward with Diddy+7 at this time,” said a Hulu representative.
“The allegations against Mr. Combs are serious and very concerning. We believe it is necessary to be sensitive to the situation and to all parties involved.”
Combs’ business ventures and public image have taken a considerable hit as a result of the cancellation. The show was viewed as a huge endeavor for Hulu, providing viewers with an inside look at the life of one of the most successful and known characters in entertainment.
The streaming service, however, was unable to proceed with the event due to the turmoil surrounding the allegations.
“This is a major setback for Diddy,” said Scott Jones, an entertainment industry analyst. “Reality TV is all about image and brand, and these allegations have cast a dark shadow over both.”
With the legal proceedings still underway, it is unclear what long-term influence the allegations will have on Combs’ career.
It’s also unknown whether Diddy+7 will be picked up by any other networks or streaming providers in the future.
