Galway restaurant apologises as one star Tripadvisor review warns ‘don’t bother’

A Galway pub has replied to a customer after their savage one-star Tripadvisor review told other punters ‘not to bother’ with the bar.

The Skeffington Arms have apologised after a diner’s experience at the city centre spot left them with a bad taste in their mouth.

Giving the pub a one-star rating, the customer claimed they waited ‘half an hour’ after placing their order for food and drinks – but none came.

They then claimed that when they enquired about where their food was, they were told the kitchen never received the order.

However it seems the punter’s day was saved by another city pub as they ducked their heads into Taaffes Bar on Shop Street instead.

The review read: “Dropped into The Skeff for something to eat on a Friday afternoon. Waitress was run off her feet. After a wait our order was taken. A half hour later and no sign of food/drinks arriving. Finally waitress reappeared, we asked where our food was to be told the kitchen never received our order!! Bad form.”

“Do better Skeffington. Thankfully Taaffes saved the afternoon with a much warmer welcome and better atmosphere.”

Staff at the Skeffington replied to the review explaining that the poor service was ‘not the norm’ as they said: “Thank you for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor regarding your recent visit to The Skeff and apologies that your time with us was so disappointing. As you can see from our previous reviews that this is not the norm for our business and I will make sure to address your feedback with the team.

“We always try to grow and improve from all feedback that we receive. I do hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back for a return visit someday.”
