Ja Morant’s Instagram Live Gun Video Won’t Get Him Arrested

Authorities in Colorado announced on Wednesday that they had concluded their investigation into whether Ja Morant broke gun laws by posting an Instagram Live video where he seems to exhibit a pistol in a nightclub.

The Glendale Police Department said in its news release that the 23-year-old Memphis Grizzlies player would not be charged. The Glendale Police Department stated in a press release, “While the video was disturbing enough to warrant an investigation, there was insufficient evidence to file criminal charges.” Saturday, following the release of the video, the Grizzlies announced that Morant would miss the team’s next two games but made clear that his absence was not a penalty. While the NBA examines the incident and whether Morant violated league rules prohibiting players from holding firearms or similar weapons when present at a team or NBA facility or traveling on NBA-related business, he is anticipated to remain out of action.
