According to Deadline, the BBC series The Tourist is releasing a season two. Viewers were able to see a first look at the new season with the unveiling of a new trailer. The show will launch on New Year’s Day.
The initial season of the show, says IMDB, features the storyline of “When a man wakes up in the Australian outback with no memory, he must use the few clues he has to discover his identity before his past catches up with him.”
Deadline revealed that The Tourist will be traveling to Ireland for the next edition of the show. The source stated that the new season will follow “Dornan’s Elliot and Helen (Danielle Macdonald) are dragged into a longstanding feud and faced to deal with the consequences of his past actions in the show. After Elliot quickly goes missing, Helen seeks the help of Detective Ruairi Slater (Conor MacNeill, Industry, The Fall), before secrets of Elliot’s past are later uncovered.”
The first season of the show became one of BBC’s most watched shows of the year, says Deadline. It also was revealed that while the show originally premiered on Netflix in America, it has since been moved to MAX.
The new season also introduces a new cast of characters, reported Deadline. Some of which include Detective Ruairi Slater Niamh Cassidy who is played by Olwen Fouéré, (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Other characters include the McDonnell family – Donal who is played by Diarmaid Murtagh (Outlander), Orla who is played by Nessa Matthews (Fair City), Fergal who is played by Mark McKenna, (One of Us is Lying), and Frank who is played by Francis Magee (Then You Run).
The series, says Deadline, is being produced by Two Brothers Pictures, who also worked on Fleabag. Along with this, the show is written by Harry and Jack Williams. The show also stars Jamie Dornan-Starrer.
