
A mobile art center is giving kids a museum-like experience right on their own elementary school campus in Rocklin.Antelope Creek Elementary School is where Crocker Art Museum’s “Art Ark” is stationed all week.Ms. Zellars’ first grade class at Antelope Creek got its chance for the unique experience visiting the 625 square-foot mobile art-education Wednesday.“It’s great! It comes right to you,” said Antelope Creek’s principal, Brian Arcuri. “They get to go in with an art docent, they get to look at actual art on the walls of the museum, and they also get to do some interactive activities.”The mobile museum opens its doors to all grade levels, which rotate through during different time slots, from Monday to Friday.The experience gives students the opportunity to engage with works of art and the concepts of creating, while on their campus. Serving between 25 to 30 schools throughout the greater Sacramento region each year, the Art Ark brings art to the students, according to Crocker Art Museum.“To go in and see this and see all the professional art up and to be able to do more we’re definitely getting a lot of ‘oohs and ahhs,’” Arcuri said.According to Rocklin Unified School District, Antelope Creek is now the district’s first arts-infused school and home to the Spark the Arts program.Administrators said the Art Ark is the perfect complement to the arts-focused learning its students have engaged with all year.“Whether it’s through displayed art or hands-on activities or performing art through music presentations, it’s all important,” said Sundeep Dosanjh, Rocklin Unified’s Chief of Communications & Community Engagement. “And however we can instill that with our families, and especially our students, we’re gonna support it 100 percent.”After their turn visiting the Art Ark, each student receives a free family pass to visit the Crocker Art Museum, according to Crocker Art.For more information about bringing the art ark to your child’s school, visit crockerart.org/schoolSee more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel
