A woman was found deceased after her car collided with a tree in Woodbridge


WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (WTNH) — The Woodbridge Police Department has begun investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of one woman.

On Nov. 25 at 11:30 a.m., the Woodbridge Police Department received a call about a severely damaged vehicle found in the area of North Pease, Fairgrounds, and Amity roads. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they witnessed a partially overturned 2018 Jeep Wrangler in a wooded area with one occupant, said authorities.

The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Jessica Ciola of Bethany, who police say was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation determined that Ciola was traveling northbound on Amity Rd. when her vehicle “veered off the road, struck a tree, and came to rest on its side in a wooded area.”

The area of the accident was closed for several hours as officials cleared the scene. At this time there is no information as to what caused Ciola to crash. 

As police continue investigating this fatality, they are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 203-387-2511.
