A$AP Rocky surprised a lot of people Monday night when he jumped a fence in front of New York City’s Carlyle Hotel before the Met Gala.

A video that went viral and was shared by the NFR Podcast shows people waiting outside the fancy hotel to catch a look at celebrities getting ready for the famous fashion gala inside.

The rapper, who was dating Rihanna and was expected to be there, blended in with the crowd by wearing a black hoodie and dark sunglasses.

The video then shows A$AP jumping over the barrier and taking off his hoodie to show who he is.

He then gave a cheeky wave to his stunned fans and walked into the Carlyle Hotel like it was nothing.

It’s not clear why the singer of “Praise the Lord” was there in the first place, but it may have been a PR stunt.

This year’s theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” in memory of the late fashion designer who oversaw high-end labels like Chanel and Fendi.
