ABC News has terminated veteran correspondent Terry Moran after he wrote a social media post criticizing President Donald Trump and his deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller.
In the since-deleted Saturday night X post, Moran slammed Miller, saying he’s “a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred,” and called President Trump a “world-class hater.”
A spokesperson for ABC News confirmed it parted ways with Miller on Tuesday in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly: “We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post — which was a clear violation of ABC News policies — we have made the decision to not renew.”
“At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism,” the statement continued.

According to screenshots shared on social media, Moran’s since-deleted X post read: “The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism. Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that’s not what’s interesting about Miller. It’s not brains. It’s bile.”
He continued, “Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”
ABC initially suspended Moran for the post on Sunday.
He then addressed the president, writing, “Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred [is] only a means to an end, and that end is his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.”

Though Moran deleted the post soon after sharing it, he was swiftly and harshly condemned by Trump administration officials, including Miller, who argued that the “public meltdown” will inspire further distrust when it comes to “corporate press in America.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt weighed in as well, publicly calling for ABC to discipline Moran.
“Last night, in a since-deleted post, so-called ‘journalist’ @TerryMoran went on a rampage against Stephen Miller and called President Trump ‘a world-class hater.’ This is unhinged and unacceptable,” she wrote on X. “We have reached out to ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable.”

Later, on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Leavitt added, “Hopefully this journalist will either be suspended or terminated.”
Moran — who landed a rare Oval Office interview with Trump in April — had been with ABC News since 1997, covering major events including the Iraq war, 9/11, and multiple presidential elections.
