Abra returned to Paris Fashion Week to once again defy the norms of beauty and fashion. Helmed by Abraham Ortuño Perez, the Fall/Winter 2024 was inspired by the women in this life. The new collection aimed to “Showcase the closet of a woman from the moment she wakes to the moment she goes to sleep,” according to a press statement.
The models graced the catwalk donning wearable makeup products like purses that resembled eyeshadow palettes, makeup brush-inspired necklaces and dresses with screen-printed images of beauty product labels. The designer created these pieces to pay homage to the little details that evoke nostalgia and make the everyday nuances of femininity and cosmetics beautiful. More specifically, Ortuño Perez was inspired by the spirit of his aunt’s effortless style and work in the beauty salon.
In doing so, he transformed his earliest childhood memories of female family members navigating through their individual beauty journeys into a fashion collection that exudes the femininity, playfulness and daintiness found in the day-to-day of those journeys, thus “Celebrating the extraordinary in the ordinary.”
