PITTSBURGH — Pitt guard Carlton Carrington was named ACC Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday.
The Baltimore native averaged 18.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game with .523/.500/.900 shooting splits in wins over Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville.
Carrington becomes the first Pitt player to earn conference Rookie of the Week honors in consecutive weeks since DeJuan Blair accomplished that feat in the Big East during the 2007-08 season. He is the 12th Pitt freshman to garner conference Rookie of the Week honors.
He had 19 points in a win over Florida Gulf Coast and 17 points in a win over Jacksonville.

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State Lady Lions senior guard Makenna Marisa was selected to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
In the Lady Lions victory over Kansas last week, Marisa scored 34 points, matching her career high. It was the 30th double figure scoring outing and eighth 30-plus-point performance of her career. She sits at ninth all-time in scoring at Penn State with 1,864 total points and her eighth 30-plus-point game ties her for second in most performances of that nature.
She had another double figure scoring outing in the Lady Lions win over St. John’s just three days later, with a team high 15 points and five assists. Through two games, the Pennsylvania native totaled 49 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds, two steals and one block.

LORETTO — Saint Francis freshman Bobby Rosenberger III was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week on Monday.
Rosenberger, a 6-5 guard, notched a career-high 19 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench against Penn State. The freshman shot 7-for-10 from the floor, 3 of 5 from behind the arc and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He alsohad five rebounds.
Rosenberger becomes the 11th different player under coach Rob Krimmel to be named the NEC Rookie of the Week and the 26th time overall in his 12 seasons as head coach.
