According to Yelp, Jack Nolen’s has the best 2023 cheeseburger in Missouri

The list was created based off of the Yelp reviews between January 1, 2023 and July 20, 2023.

ST. LOUIS — If you’re craving a cheeseburger, Jack Nolen’s may be the place to go.

The restaurant has been deemed the best place to get a cheeseburger in the state of Missouri.

Yelp said the Soulard neighborhood restaurant, known for its smash burgers, has earned the title.

“I think this is very cool,” said owner Jim Grindstaff. “We do not advertise with Yelp. I recommend Yelp maybe 70% of the time.”

The goal when he opened this restaurant almost four years ago was to make the best burger and to put Missouri on the map.

According to Jack Nolen’s Facebook page, the restaurant introduced a new burger-of-the-month on November 1; The Big Bear Pizza Burger will be adorned with mozzarella cheese, Big Bear’s signature pizza sauce, pepperonis, banana peppers, and an exclusive burger blend.

“We work as a team to make something better to top the month before,” Grindstaff said about his commitment to a new burger each month.

Grindstaff also owns AJ’s Smashed and Smoked in Belleville, Illinois.

The method used to create this “2023 top cheeseburgers in every state” list consisted of several factors. The businesses had to be listed under the category of food and restaurants, a wide range of reviews mentioning “cheeseburger,” and reviews between Jan. 1 and July 20 all were factors.
