During October, residents of Presbyterian Senior Living, Hollidaysburg, collected food and other items for the American Rescue Workers, Hollidaysburg. Blair Garden Club to hold holiday social
Blair Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at the American Legion Post 516 Social Hall, 1501 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg.
The evening is the holiday social.

Club members whose last names begin with A-K are to bring an appetizer, those whose last names begin with L-Z are to bring a dessert.
The evening’s program will be a fun presentation of gardening quiz questions with prizes. This is the last meeting until February.
Christmas concert set in Hollidaysburg
The Hollidaysburg Community Chorus will present a “Night of Noels,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.
It is an afternoon and evening of nostalgic holiday favorites, sacred music of the season, and a bit of song and dance from the Childrens Community Chorus.
The soloist this year is Jim Worthing.
Admission is $8 for adults and free for students 18 and under. Prepurchase tickets from any chorus member or at Music Emporium, Roaring Spring Department Store or any Thompson Pharmacy. Sponsors are David Oppel/New York Life Insurance Co. and the Allegheny Club of Hollidaysburg.
Axe event to support scholarships
JOHNSTOWN — Release your inner Viking during an all-new fundraiser event supporting the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center’s Youth Scholarship Fund from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5.
For $20, registrants ages 8 and older can come to Steel City Axe (2447 Bedford St. Johnstown) for an hourlong throwing session.
To ensure your desired time slot, pre-registration is preferred. Individuals or large groups can participate.
There are six lanes which host up to eight people per hour. To register, go to www.steelcityaxe.com, select pricing and then search by date. Be sure to select Dec. 5 on the calendar. You can also register by calling 814-266-0293.
After all that throwing, refuel with The Fat Squirrel Ice Cream & Eatery and Forbes Trail Brewing Company. They will be on site serving food and craft beers. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

SAMA-Altoona to host Art After Dark
The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona will hold its next Art After Dark event from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Altoona museum. SAMA is in the Brett Building at 1210 11th Ave., Altoona.
This Art After Dark will be the last event of the 2023 year and will be “Holiday Market” themed. This will be an opportunity to sample the creativity and talents of the local community while searching for that perfect gift this holiday season.
Art After Dark will also feature a canned/non-perishable food drive to be donated to St. Vincent DePaul’s Soup Kitchen.
Guests are invited to attend this event wearing their ugliest holiday sweaters and enter our Ugly Sweater Contest. Music will be provided by Bruce Schettig. A full list of vendors and featured artist will be announced on Facebook and Instagram closer to the date of the event.
Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. BYOB is allowed and encouraged.
Civics plan ‘Breakfast with Grinch’
The Juniata Civic Association will host “Breakfast with the Grinch” on Saturday, Dec. 9, and a Christmas Market on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 206 W. 12th Ave.
Tickets must be purchased in advance for the pancake and bacon breakfast that will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 9. The cost is $10 per person. A Grinch-themed craft will also be given to each child to make and take.
The Christmas Market and Soup Sampling is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Civics building. Admission is free to view vendors and shop inside the Market. Attendees can sample five soups for $5 and soup will also be available for purchase.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at their toy store for a photo opportunity.
