PHARR, TX – The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is proud to announce we were recently awarded a $75,000 grant by the American Electric Power (AEP) Foundation to supplement our 2024 focused food assistance to low income and underserved population groups. The Food Bank RGV will use these funds to provide a variety of emergency food assistance programs to ensure all of our neighbors, regardless of their background, have access to nourishing and nutritious food.
“The Foundation strives to improve the quality of life for people in the communities where AEP and its operating unites serve and where AEP employees live and work,” Gilbert Hughes, AEP Texas Vice President of External Affairs, said. “As a supporter of the important work the Food Bank RGV does, we care about our gift’s impact in the community.”
The Food Bank RGV extends a heartfelt thank you to AEP for this outstanding act of kindness and support! This extraordinary grant will provide them with much needed support as they continue providing life-saving emergency food assistance this year to families and individuals facing hunger across the Rio Grande Valley amidst the ongoing inflation crisis.
The Food Bank RGV is committed to providing vital food and social service assistance to all. To learn more about the Food Bank RGV and our efforts to alleviate hunger across the Rio Grande Valley, visit foodbankrgv.com.
