After ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie,’ Shigeru Miyamoto Wants More Nintendo Films

Shigeru Miyamoto, a Japanese video game producer, says that after The Super Mario Bros. Movie, he would be interested in seeing more Nintendo movies. The movie was a huge hit, making an incredible $377 million in its first weekend.

When he talked to Nikkei about Nintendo, he said that Nintendo is like a star agency with a lot of entertainers. “There are many possible ways we could go, such as using characters that would be fit for movies or very well-known characters.”

Chris Meladandri from Illumination shares his excitement about making more adaptations. He’s sure they’ll work together on more projects, saying, “I’m sure we will continue working on this partnership.”

Shigeru hasn’t said which figures he’d like to adapt next, but a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Film is a likely choice because of how well it did and how much people wanted it.
