Alec Baldwin’s Criminal Charges Dismissed Over Fatal Gunshot on ‘Rust’ Set

After a fatal shooting on the set of his new movie Rust, Alec Baldwin is no longer being charged with any crimes.

Reports say that the 65-year-old star will not be charged with a crime for the accidental death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while filming Baldwin’s movie.

Baldwin was arrested and charged with two counts of unintentional manslaughter for what happened in October 2021.

In a joint statement, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, who represent the actor, said, “We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin, and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”

Baldwin asked that a lawsuit filed by Halyna’s parents be thrown out after he said Olga Solovey, Anatolii Androsovych, and Svetlana Zemko did it to “get money” for her death. This is the newest development in the case.

The Santa Fe District Attorney who charged Baldwin with unintentional killing said last month that he would no longer be working on the case.

Mary Carmack-Altwies also said that two new lawyers, Kari Morrissey, and Jason Lewis, would be joining the case as special prosecutors.

In her statement, she said she was leaving because she wanted to “focus on broader public safety needs” in New Mexico.

For those who don’t know, this is the thing that happened on the set of Rust in 2021, when a character fired a fake gun, which also hurt the film’s director, Joel Souza.

The accident happened when the team was setting up to film a scene in a small church.

Halyna, who was 42 years old, was taken to the hospital from the New Mexico set, but she died there from her injuries.

Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s armorer, were both charged with two counts of unintentional manslaughter when Halyna died on the set.

If they were found guilty, Alec could go to jail for up to 18 months.
