LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell sophomore Amar Tahirovic earned Patriot League Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors on Tuesday after leading the Bison to a season-opening 7-0 win over Saint Francis over the weekend.
On Saturday at the Central PA Tennis Center in South Williamsport, Tahirovic teamed with fellow sophomore Brendan McDonald for a 6-2 win over Marc Fuste and Alan Gonzalez at No. 1 doubles. That victory helped the Bison take the doubles point, and then they proceeded to sweep all six singles matches.
Tahirovic led the onslaught with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Fuste at No. 1 singles.
The Stuttgart, Germany native, who was a First Team All-Patriot League selection as a freshman last year, is now 10-1 in singles and 14-3 in doubles dating back to the start of the fall season.
Bucknell’s busy spring slate continues this weekend at the Binghamton Invitational. The Bison will take on NJIT in a dual match on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., and then they will face either Binghamton or Siena on Sunday.
