ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Looking for a unique animal experience that allows you to get close to exotic animals?
A spot in Osceola County has provided a home to some 100 animals, many of which are rescues.
Amazing Animals’ reserve is a nonprofit where sloths, snakes and skunks get to live out their life in comfort.
Kylie Reynolds and her husband Brian Braitsch created the facility 14 years ago after discovering how many animals needed a home.
“We are taking in that medium-size animal. We don’t do lion, tiger, and bear. But there is no one really taking in that medium-size animal people get and don’t want anymore,” said Braitsch.
Braitsch himself had a small reptile collection before starting the animal preserve in St. Cloud, and really discourages people from taking on an exotic animal as a pet.
“It is really a 24-hour, 7-day a week job and it never really ends when you have this many animals. They need around the clock care, a lot of them,” said Braitsch.
He suggests people do their homework before taking on any animal as a pet.
The couple’s facility is on five acres behind their home in Osceola County.
The goal at Amazing Animals is allowing guests to interact and get as close to their creatures as possible.
Providing guests access to their animals is how the animal preserve survives as a nonprofit.
“This is a 100% how we are able to do things. Doing our private tours and doing off set tours with the animals,” said Reynolds.
A highlight for guests is visiting their sloth house where visitors can touch and take pictures with the popular animals.
One sloth recently gave birth to baby “Liv” who clings to her mother closely.
Amazing Animals are by appointment only and cost $200 for one to four people, then $50 per person for any additional guests.
