AMD Expands Automotive-Grade FPGA Portfolio with Compact, Cost-Effective Artix UltraScale+ AU7P for ADAS and Digital Cockpits IT Voice


Smaller silicon devices are becoming increasingly common in automotive sensors and digital cockpit systems. According to Yole Intelligence, the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) camera market was valued at $2 billion in 2023 and is forecasted to grow to $2.7 billion by 2029.

To meet this demand, AMD has introduced the newest addition to its automotive-grade FPGA lineup: the Artix™ UltraScale+™ XA AU7P. This cost-optimized FPGA is designed specifically for ADAS sensor systems and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) applications.

The Artix UltraScale+ XA AU7P features a compact 9×9 mm package, making it the smallest package available in AMD’s 16nm FPGAs and adaptive SoCs. Its lightweight design makes it ideal for use in camera vision and in-vehicle displays. Available in a chip-scale package, it offers improved I/O signal density, enhanced solder joint reliability, and better electrical performance.

As the latest member of AMD’s automotive-grade portfolio, the Artix UltraScale+ device joins other AMD solutions such as the Spartan™ 7, Zynq™ 7000, and Zynq UltraScale+ product families.

Customers are already integrating the Artix UltraScale+ AU7P FPGAs into ADAS edge devices such as thermal and infrared cameras. These devices offer strong performance for data processing and image/video handling in edge sensors, and they can also connect to in-vehicle displays for enhanced infotainment features.

The AMD Artix UltraScale+ XA AU7P FPGAs provide high signal compute density and optimized I/O in AMD’s most compact automotive offering. The device supports high DSP bandwidth, making it a top choice for cost-sensitive, low-power ADAS edge applications including vision, networking, and security features to ensure safe connectivity.
