America Ferrera Praised ‘Barbie’ After Receiving the 2024 People’s Choice Award

America Ferrera lauded the film Barbie as a bold and encouraging work of art when she collected the 2024 People’s Choice Award for Best Movie Performance.

During the awards ceremony on Sunday in Santa Monica, California, Billie Eilish handed the prize to the 39-year-old actress, who joked that she attended the event solely to be friends with the Lovely singer.

Ferrera started her address by declaring, “I’m only here because I want Billie Eilish to be my best friend. Billie, what do you say.”

Furthermore, the actress complimented Barbie as an inspirational creation, stating, “Oh my goodness, thank you to everybody who voted for me and Barbie.”

“Whether you saw Barbie in the theater one time or 20 times, I know there are some of you out there thank you for showing up with your friends and your family all dressed in your fabulous pink,” she went on to say.

The Ugly Betty actress also complimented the film’s directors and stars, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie.

She went on to say, “Yes, yes, yes, all the flowers to both Greta and Margot for inviting me to represent the entire human race in Barbie Land.”

Ferrera added, “You’re welcome. I hope I did you proud.”
