Amtrak Train Collides With Empty Car on Tracks; Train Stopped Near Wadsworth


An Amtrak train is currently stopped near Wadsworth, east of Sparks after it collided with an empty truck on the tracks on Thanksgiving.

In a statement to 2 News, Amtrak says the collision happened just before 9:15 a.m. on Thursday. 

They say Amtrak Train 5, also known as California Zephyr, was headed west to Emeryville from Chicago when the crash happened. 

“There have been no reported injuries to the 115 passengers or crew onboard. Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident,” they say. 

There’s no immediate word on when the track will be cleared and when the train resume its journey.
