EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – UW-Eau Claire’s science department catching many peoples’ attention on Saturday during their annual Astronomy Day showing many what science has to offer.
Collaborating with the Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society, people of all ages came to the event. Learning about infrared light, radioactivity, solar and radio telescopes and meteorites.
Those involved say it’s important to highlight the role science plays in everyday things, not just outer space.
John A. Peterson is a volunteering member for the Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society. He says he hopes many get a lot out of the event.
“I hope that people leave with a greater appreciation for space and astronomy, and the fact that astronomy’s not just a nighttime thing.” he said “I just hope that a lot of people leave wanting more.”
In case you missed Astronomy Day, the Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society invites people to its observatory every Saturday in the summer to introduce others to science opportunities.
