Annual “Boo & Gold” Halloween Basketball Event Another Success – University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics

CHATTANOOGA (October 30, 2023) — Chattanooga basketball fans were welcomed back into McKenzie Arena on Monday night as the men’s and women’s programs hosted its annual Halloween-themed “Boo and Gold” Event.

Children filled the concourse by trick-or-treating from various other UTC programs before filing in to get a sneak peek of both hoops’ teams ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Both programs introduced their rosters, giving fans a chance to meet the 10 new players for the men and seven for the women. Honor Huff and Addie Porter then acted as emcees for an intra-squad three-point contest.

A half hour of basketball ensued, with each team getting 15 minutes to showcase their talent in front of Mocs fans. Head coaches Shawn Poppie and Dan Earl also addressed the crowd, expressing their gratitude for the support and excitement for the coming season.

Finally, freshman Noah Melson wrapped up the festivities by taking home the dunk contest. Student-athletes and coaches remained on the floor to sign autographs and meet the Mocs faithful.

It was an exciting night for everyone involved and a great way to kick off basketball season. Both teams are in action on Monday, Nov. 6 to kick off the season. The women’s team starts the day at 11 a.m., taking on King University, while the men’s team faces Covenant College at 7 p.m.
