Antigo Visual Arts teams up with Antigo FD to launch art project

ANTIGO, Wis. (WJFW) – Antigo Visual Arts (AVA) teamed up with the Antigo Fire Department (AFD) for an art display in the AFD apparatus bay, led by AVA artist Vicki Eldridge.

Vicki is a creative artist who often uses recycled materials to make carved, award-winning totems and arts displays in the AVA gallery of the Langlade County Historical Museum.

“AFD approached me over the summer inquiring about having a couple of fire department patches painted on the wall in the fire department bay” said AVA artist Danna Gabriel. “Vicki jumped at the chance to try something different and brought her plans to the chief.”

When the project is complete, the AFD will receive a final collection of 4 carved, painted, and sealed patches.

“I am very excited by how this turned out and am looking forward to completing the collection and getting them on our apparatus bay wall,” said AFD Chief Smith.
