Looking to make the switch from Spotify to Apple Music? A new feature currently in beta will make it easier to import your Spotify playlists into Apple’s music-streaming service.
The test—currently just on Android—integrates SongShift, a service that imports playlists and music libraries between music subscriptions.
As reported by 9to5Mac, some Reddit users have pointed out that the beta feature brings SongShift into Apple Music as a native feature. SongShift also works with YouTube Music and is handy if you’ve decided to consolidate services or found a better price elsewhere.
For now, however, you have to go directly through SongShift’s app to make that happen. With an Apple Music integration, you won’t need the additional download, though it only works one way. You can’t transfer Apple Music to Spotify or YouTube Music, for example. If you want to switch to Spotify or go from Android to iOS, you’ll need to download the SongShift app.
This is only showing up for some people with the beta version of the Apple Music Android app. It’s possible Apple could pull the feature and never roll it out. But if the company fully integrates SongShift, switching to the service will be much easier.
