Application window open for Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits

It’s that time of year for seniors to register or renew to participate in the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).

The program is federally funded and administered through the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries’ Farmers Market Authority Section. SFMNP provides low-income seniors with funding for eligible foods at farmers’ markets, roadside stands and community supported agriculture programs, according to the USDA. Benefits cannot be used at grocery stores.
