The $7,000 prize will be awarded to a Baltimore City visual artist
(BALTIMORE, MD) May 27, 2025 — The Baltimore Office of Promotion and The Arts (BOPA) is proud to
announce the 10th edition of the Municipal Art Society of Baltimore City (MASB) Artist Travel Prize.

Sponsored by MASB, this annual award supports Baltimore-based visual artists seeking to expand their
practice through meaningful travel. Founded in 1899 as part of the City Beautiful movement, MASB remains one of only two organizations still operating under its original charter, which is dedicated to enhancing Baltimore’s public spaces through art.
“BOPA is honored to continue our longstanding partnership with the Municipal Art Society of Baltimore City through the Artist Travel Prize,” says Robyn Murphy, interim CEO of BOPA. “This award is a powerful
investment in the creative potential of Baltimore’s artists. By supporting travel that enriches and informs
artistic practice, we are helping artists bring new ideas, global perspectives, and renewed inspiration back to our city.”
The 2025 MASB Artist Travel Prize will award $7,000 to a visual artist or visual artist collaborators living or working in Baltimore City. Proposals must clearly articulate how travel to a specific destination will inform, inspire, or support the artist’s work and include plans for a public presentation upon return.
Applications are now open and will close at 11:59 PM on June 20, 2025. Eligibility details and submission requirements can be found here: https://www.eventeny.com/events/vendor/?id=32695. All applications must be submitted through the Eventeny portal.
ABOUT THE PRIZE
In 2016, MASB launched the Artist Travel Prize to support the City’s vibrant artistic community by funding travel that is critical to an artist’s studio practice but may otherwise be financially out of reach. Past recipients of the MASB Artist Travel Prize include 2016: Stephen Towns, Nate Larson, Erick Antonio Benitez, Erin Fostel, LaToya Hobbs, J.M. Giordano, Hoesy Corona, Schroeder Cherry, Rosa Leff, Jackie Milad, Elena Volkova, Jill Orlov, and Sherry Insley.
Applicants must live or work in Baltimore City and be at least 21 years old. Previous recipients of the MASB Artist Travel Prize or Henry Walters Travel Prize are not eligible.
