Solo artists exhibiting

MARGARETVILLE — Two solo shows opened Friday, Oct. 20, at Longyear Gallery at 785 Main St. in Margaretville.

According to a media release, “From Santorini to Riverside Park” by Marcia Clark and “A Retrospective of Prints and Works on Paper” by RK Mills, will join a members group show through Nov. 19.

A reception will mark the opening from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

Longview Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays.

Gallery show opening

ONEONTA — “Start From Zero,” a selection of paintings and drawings by Yolanda Sharpe, will open Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Martin-Mullen Art Gallery in SUNY Oneonta’s Fine Arts Center.

A reception will mark the opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. The show will remain on view through Dec. 16.

Sharpe, a professor of painting and drawing at SUNY Oneonta, calls herself a mid-career contemporary artist.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday while classes are in session and by appointment.

Talk set by artists

FLEISCHMANNS — An artist talk will be presented by Christie Scheele at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at 1053 Gallery at 1053 Main St. in Fleischmanns.

According to a media release, moderated by Hovey Brock, the two artists will discuss Scheele’s show, “Atlas/Watershed” which includes an installation by Brock titled, “A Piece of the West Branch,” and the environmental issues that inspired it.

Organists to give recital

SCHENEVUS — A fall organ recital with area organists Sidney Chase and John Jorgeson will be presented at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Church of the Holy Spirit at 4 Arch St. in Schenevus

The event is free. All are welcome to attend.
