CLEMSON, S.C.– After a delay of game and location change Arizona competed against South Florida Sat. Jan. 27 at the Duckworth Family Tennis Center. The Wildcats earned themselves a 4-0 victory for the consolation match at the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
Due to the delay in start time the match-up went straight into singles competition. To gain her second singles win of the weekend Tanvi Narendran pulled another straight-set win against Rhea Makesar, putting up the first point to put the Wildcats in the lead.
Following straight after came courts 4, 5, and 1. Midori Castillo-Meza matched the prior victory 6-1, 6-0 to earn Arizona the second point of the day. Bradelyn Fulgenzi defeated Marta Falceto Font 6-1, 6-3 to grow the Cats lead 3-0. Reece Carter clinched the match in the number one singes spot in the fourth straight-set win for the Wildcats 6-2, 6-3. This secured the 4-0 ending to take-down South Florida, putting Arizona’s record at 5-2.
The Cats are home next weekend Fri. Feb. 2 at 2:00 PM (MST) as they host San Diego State. Later on, Sun. Feb. 4 at 11:00 AM (MST), they will compete against Maryland in Tuscon, Ariz. at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
