PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) – Aroostook Partners in the Arts hosts a variety of events throughout the year to support youth art programs across the county. Aroostook Partners in the Arts provides sponsorships to local schools to foster and support performing and visual arts for youth in the community. This year, they granted nearly $7,000 in funding to organizations and local youth for art-related programs.
Shelby Pelletier, a Board Member for Aroostook Partners in the Arts said, “We gave about $4,200 in sponsorships to local organizations that were doing art for youth in Aroostook County. Additionally, we provided $1,200 in scholarships to youth for activities like dance classes, music lessons, and other art-related pursuits they otherwise couldn’t afford. We also invested around $1,200 into our Crayons and Care project, which supplies art materials to displaced youth in Aroostook County.”
One of their fundraisers during the year is an art auction. This year, it brought in about 4300 dollars. Auctions aren’t the only way they receive funding for these programs. Pelletier, “We try to get creative with our fundraising. We have several ideas in the works. In the past, we’ve hosted events like Brews and Brushes, Name That Tune, and even a Murder Mystery Night. It’s really exciting to be able to bring all of this local art together in one space, so it’s kind of a celebration of local artists’ work as well as being able to raise money for a great cause sop that we can provide more experiences for youth to take in art in Aroostook County.”Locals can donate to these programs or sponsor bags for the Crayons and Care project at partnersinthearts.org.
