Art and culture min introduces new award for senior artists

Panaji: The minister of art and culture, Govind Gaude, on Wednesday announced the introduction of the ‘Kala Vriddhi Puraskar’ to recognise the contributions of senior artists in Goa.
The Kala Vriddhi Puraskar will be presented to artists aged between 39 and 59 who have significantly impacted the field of arts and culture with their contributions.
The award will include a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a shawl, a shriphal, and a certificate.
This announcement was made on the sidelines of the Kala Gavrav and Kala Vriddhi awards ceremony held on Wednesday.
Gaude stressed the importance of recognising and encouraging artists at different stages of their careers.
“There was no award to felicitate this age group. The idea is to inspire the younger generation of artists so that they are aware that their work is going to be recognised even at a later stage,” he said. He urged young artists in the state to strive for excellence in their chosen fields, assuring them of full recognition for their contributions.
“I urge the young generation of artists to gain expertise in their choice of arts, and they will surely get 100% recognition; this has been my personal experience with the arts,” said Gaude, who has previously performed in Marathi dramas.
