Art in Public Places announces 4th Annual Loop Music & Art Festival

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY)—Art in Public Places (APP) has just announced it will host its 4th Annual Loop Music & Art Festival. This two-day event will celebrate all mediums of art while bringing live music to the streets of Downtown Dothan.

The event, scheduled for April 11-12, 2025, will feature over 43 local artists, three live demonstrating artists, artist groups, and eight musical performances, marking a weekend full of fun for the Wiregrass community.

Event Details:

  • Friday, April 11, 2025 – 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Saturday, April 12, 2025 – 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Location: South Foster Street & East Crawford Street, Downtown Dothan, AL. Free Admission

Last year, around 1,400 people attended the event. However, it was only one day. With the festival now spanning two days, APP expects attendance numbers to surpass last year’s.

Festival attendees can explore different art styles, from clay and fiber arts to jewelry and mixed media. Offering community members a chance to connect with and support local artists.

This year’s festival is special as it will mark the launch of APP’s Art Outside initiative with a temporary public art installation by textile artist Nicole Hemmerly. Artists Amanda Hamrick (natural dye), Charlie Mabry (clay), and Casey Roberts (poetry) will give festival-goers a firsthand look at their specific artistic techniques and personal creative processes.

Downtown Dothan’s murals are another main feature of this event. Gil Anthony will guide walking and riding tours of the murals at 10:30 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM. Plus, the APP Junior Board will host a mural painting activity to connect festival attendees with the deep history of Downtown Dothan’s murals.

This year, patron packages are returning to ensure guests enjoy the festival like never before. Packages feature benefits like Loop Loot (real money for art), exclusive hospitality at Blue Moon Cafe, free meals and libations, early bird shopping, designated parking, and more.

In partnership with the Dothan Civic Center & Opera House and Live at the Opera, APP has increased artist awards this year from $1,600 to $2,100 to further support and recognize outstanding artists from the region.
