Arte Viva Celebrates Art of Tapestry Weaving

Currently on exhibit throughout February at the La Petite Galerie for the Center for the Arts is the “Frecuencias Elementales” by Margarita Angel. Margarita is from Cali, Colombia. She calls herself a visual creator, and her works reflect a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary expression. According to Margarita, she is a self-taught tapestry weaver and finds weaving unlocked a spiritual dimension that allowed her to see and capture the energy of the cosmos through her threads.

Margarita graduated from the Universidad de Valle with a B.A in Visual Arts in 2011. Since 2007, she has participated in selected group exhibitions in and outside Colombia. In 2014 and 2015, she was awarded for her projects “Nuevas estaciones” and “El Amanecer Dorado.”
