Artists Association selling Johnson Gallery, buying former Jordan Real Estate

(Jan. 24, 2025) The Artists Association of Nantucket, which will celebrate its 80th anniversary this summer, is selling its Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson gallery on Washington Street and buying the Federal Street building formerly home to Jordan Real Estate to convert into a larger, more versatile gallery space, executive director Tracey Sears announced in an e-mail to AAN artists Saturday.

“For more than 25 years, the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery has showcased fine art by our artist members in a year-round schedule of shows. As our membership has grown, we have rented the second floor of the Thomas Macy Warehouse as the AAN’s Big Gallery. While both galleries have been successful, it has been our goal for some time to have one highly visible flagship gallery in downtown Nantucket,” she wrote.
