Arts Council of Rockland Receives $30,000 State Grant


ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The Arts Council of Rockland has received a $30,000 grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.

“This award will enable ACOR to expand programs, resources, and services for local artists and art organizations,” she told Patch. We are incredibly pleased that NYSCA recognized the work we do and funded us accordingly.”

The award was among $46 million in grants announced Wednesday. “Nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences generated $151.7 billion in economic activity nationwide in 2022 and New York’s unparalleled arts and culture sector is leading the way to benefit our residents, our students and our visitors every day,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in the announcement.

Don’t miss ACOR’s Winter Fest 2023, which will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Palisades Center, level one, outside Macy’s. The event is designed to support local artists and artisans with a venue to sell their work, while also offering youth musicians, singers, and dancers an opportunity to perform for the public.

There will be 30 vendors selling artist made gifts, youth music, dance, and literary performances, interactive art activities, and an art exhibit.

Also, the Arts Council of Rockland has an Artist’s Support Fund to provide grants directly to practicing Rockland County artists in need of funding to support their ongoing work.

The 2024 Artist’s Support Fund application will be available on Dec. 1 and the deadline is 5 p.m. Jan. 22. To learn more about this grant program and how to apply, go here.
