Aryna Sabalenka has now reached the semifinals at the last six Grand Slams in a row

Aryna Sabalenka has blasted her way back into the semifinals of the Australian Open, powering past Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night, 6-2, 6-3.

Sabalenka is now a perfect 8-0 in her career in Grand Slam quarterfinals—and an even more perfect 16-0 in sets in those matches—and she’s now reached the semifinals or better at the last six majors in a row, a streak that began at the 2022 US Open.

SABALENKA AT GRAND SLAMS SINCE 2022 US OPEN:

  • SFs of 2022 US Open (l. Swiatek)
  • Won 2023 Australian Open
  • SFs of 2023 Roland Garros (l. Muchova)
  • SFs of 2023 Wimbledon (l. Jabeur)
  • R-Up at 2023 US Open (l. Gauff)
  • SFs of 2024 Australian Open (playing Gauff on Thursday)

And it’s a rare kind of streak, too: Sabalenka is the first woman to reach the semifinals or better at six Grand Slams in a row since Serena Williams reached the semifinals or better at 10 Grand Slams in a row between the 2014 US Open and the 2017 Australian Open.

More to come…
