As longtime curators depart, Mass MoCA looks to the next generation

NORTH ADAMS — Curating an exhibition is an act of faith.

That’s how Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art Director Kristy Edmunds termed it — a belief in an artist’s creative vision before it’s materialized, with the understanding that a work isn’t fully complete until it’s seen by an audience.

Throughout the process, Edmunds said curators take on the artist’s conundrums and problems as their own, mulling over economies of scale, technical facets and the content of the work itself.
