As the Psychiatric Hold on Amanda Bynes Is Extended, She Is ‘Focusing on Getting Better’

According to reports, Amanda Bynes’ psychiatric hold has been extended for at least another week.

According to TMZ, the former Nickelodeon star, 36, has extended her psychiatric hold at the hospital from 72 hours to at least a week, and possibly longer.

Last Sunday, the All That alum allegedly waved down a passing car while nakedly roaming the streets of Los Angeles and told the driver she was recovering from a psychotic episode.

After making an independent 911 call, she was taken to a police station, where it was determined that a 5150 psychiatric hold was necessary, as previously reported by TMZ.

As she remains hospitalized, Bynes “seriously focuses on getting better,” according to the outlet.

A source revealed that the She’s the Man actress is not communicating with anyone close to her, and it is unknown whether she remembers the incident from last week.

TMZ reported earlier this week that Bynes, who was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder, likely lived “on the streets for days” prior to calling the police on herself after suffering a mental breakdown.

According to sources close to the former child star, her car was discovered in Long Beach, California, four days before her spiraling episode on March 15, 2023.

The vehicle was found 40 miles from her residence and 15 miles from where she was discovered in downtown Los Angeles, leading the outlet’s sources to believe she hitchhiked or took public transportation.

Bynes’s mother, Lynn Bynes, is reportedly in charge of her after she was placed under conservatorship in 2013. Bynes’ conservatorship was ended in March 2022 after she “provided evidence that the conservatorship was no longer required.”

The termination of the conservatorship was supported by her parents, a source told ET at the time.
