A$AP Rocky is becoming concerned about the implications of his legal struggle on his future with partner Rihanna and their two children.
After a heated argument, the Fashion Killa rapper is accused of firing a semi-automatic weapon at his former buddy and plaintiff A$AP Relli, and he is slated to go on trial in January.
Rocky, whose actual name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers, is now seeking with the court to put his ex-friend, Relli, real name Terell Ephron, on hold until his criminal case is concluded, according to RadarOnline.
Relli had launched a defamation claim against Rocky and his high-profile lawyer, Joe Tacopina, for portraying him as an extortionist and liar.
Rocky’s legal team stated that the defamation claim would have an impact on his criminal case, requiring him to either remain “silent” or testify in the civil case to “defend himself.” It would be an unfair trial, according to the team, and a “inefficient use of judicial resources.”
The report comes after Rihanna expressed concern over Rocky’s likely nine-year prison sentence.
Despite “trying to stay calm and listen to the lawyers promising they’ll keep him out of jail,” a source told Life & Style, the Fenty Beauty founder is afraid of the consequences.
The Umbrella singer, who has two sons with Rocky, is doing everything she can to help his case because she “totally believes he’s innocent.”
