Ask the tax expert: Business travel, inheritance and office supplies

Q: I flew overseas, and I was struck by the difference in comfort level between the classes of air travel. I wish I could afford first class for such a long flight. I wonder if the people who fly first class for business are allowed to deduct the full cost of the ticket.

Business expenses are deductible if they are ordinary and necessary. Ordinary means commonplace and necessary means appropriate and helpful.
