Our Aska Cooking and Food Guide will tell you how to cook food and provide your villagers with better nutrition; we also list several cooking recipes.
Keeping your villagers fed in Aska isn’t easy, especially if the only resources you have at hand are a few raw ingredients. Fortunately, you can use a Campfire and a Cooking House
How to Get Food in Aska
There are three ways to get food in Aska: foraging, farming, hunting, and fishing.
Foraging is simply a matter of picking up wild food that is growing all over the island. It takes quite some time for forageables to regrow in an area, so you’ll have to go further and further away from your settlement as the game goes on.
Farming allows you to take the seeds you gain from foraging and sustainably grow food within the confines of your Settlement. You’ll have to build a farm and several crop fields to take advantage of this method.
Certain wild animals (such as Wulfars) can give you red meat after they’re killed. Similarly, you can craft a Flimsy Fishing Rod and get fresh fish from the ocean. These options are a good supplement, but it would be difficult to keep your villagers alive on meat alone.
How to Cook Food in Aska
There are two ways to cook food in Aska:
- Grill food over the Barbecue Add-On on a Campfire
- Use the Crock Pot in a Cooking House
You can build the Barbecue Add-On fairly early in the game and a villager can be assigned to it to automatically cook food. The food cooked in a Cooking House, however, is superior.
Barbecued Food is simply a single heated food item. Food cooked in a Crock Pot, however, is comprised of a few units of water and 4 ingredients. The food that you can make in a Cooking House, generally speaking, is more nutritious and provides greater buffs.
