BOYS BASKETBALL

Macon East Academy 37, Lowndes Academy 36

LOWNDESBORO — Jacob Simpson hit the game-winning free throws with two seconds left to lift the Knights to a 37-36 win over the Rebels in the Lowndes Academy gym on Friday night.

Jacob Johnson led Macon East with 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals and Keagan Roney added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Clayton Hussey led the Rebels with 15 points, three rebounds, five steals, a pair of blocked shots and an assist, followed by Zach Azar with eight points, three rebounds and a blocked shot, Pierson Hill with five points, a pair of rebounds and a blocked shot, Andrew Myers with three points, three rebounds and two assists, John Ross Hollingshead with three points, three rebounds and two assists and David Calloway with two points.

Macon East (2-1) will travel to Southern Prep on Tuesday for an area game, while Lowndes (1-1) will travel to Hope Hull to play Hooper on Tuesday.

Brew Tech 67, LAMP 55

LAMP lost to the Rams in a battle of magnet schools in the Brew Tech gym on Friday night.

Smith Carter led the Golden Tigers with 18 points, followed by Matthias Gourdine with 14 and Ezekial Griffin with 14 points and nine rebounds.

LAMP (5-3) will travel to Alabama Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Montgomery Academy 56, Chilton County 55

CLANTON — Chilton County stormed out to a 10-0 lead early on their way to a 21-point first quarter, but Montgomery Academy chipped away at the lead and eventually edged the Class 6A Tigers 56-55 in the Chilton County gym on Friday night.

Skyler Stovall led the Eagles with 15 points, nine rebounds, five steals and two assists, followed by DJ Vinson with 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots. Cole Caddell added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Brewer Welch had eight points, two rebounds, six assists and four steals. Seth Edwards managed five points, but added seven rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocked shots. Jarrett Friendly also scored two points, grabbed eight rebounds and had an assist and two steals.

Montgomery Academy (7-1) returns home to play host to Tallassee on Monday.

Evangel Christian 43, Edgewood Academy 37

Tylon Shine scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Lions to a 43-37 win over the Wildcats on Friday. Desi Stovall added a career high 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lions (2-2) will host Crenshaw Christian on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Chilton County 41, Montgomery Academy 32

CLANTON — Montgomery Academy made just one field goal in the second quarter, falling behind Chilton County and never recovering in a 41-32 loss to the Class 6A Tigers on Friday night.

Olivia Smith led the Eagles with 11 points and nine rebounds. Kaci Armistead added seven points and five steals.

Montgomery Academy (2-5) returns home to play Tallassee on Monday.
