ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University Athletics is beyond excited to host men’s and women’s basketball back inside Nicholson Arena for the first full season since 2021-22.  

“The guys are excited, the team is excited to be able to have a season in this beautiful facility and we are so blessed on many fronts,” Men’s Basketball Head Coach Brandon Rinta said. “This is as big a step for Wildcat Athletics as there’s been.” 

Existing reserved season ticket holders will have the opportunity to renew their tickets on the ticketing website when the arena is finalized, which is anticipated to be in the upcoming days. Existing reserved ticket holders seats will be held for the men’s exhibition season opener vs Lincoln (CA) this Saturday. 

 
“I feel like it’s going to be pretty special in the new facility,” Women’s Basketball junior guard Sunny Huerta said about playing back in Nicholson Arena. “It’s going to motivate us even more to put on our best performance for everyone. We’re very excited for everyone to finally be able to see the facility as a whole, it’s a gamechanger.”

Both teams will have a full slate of 28 total home games with each team hosting 14 games, including all nine other GNAC teams. The men’s basketball team will see four NCAA Tournament teams from last year come to Ellensburg. The Wildcats are also hosting a tournament featuring Westminster (UT), Cal State Los Angeles, and Northwest Nazarene. The women’s basketball team will welcome three teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament last season. They’ll also welcome Cal State Los Angeles, Westminster (UT), and first-year NCAA Division II program Westmont to Ellensburg this season.
