Bedford Park police officer shot at gas station: authorities

BEDFORD PARK, Ill. (WLS) — A Bedford Park police officer was shot early Sunday.

The shooting happened around 3:40 a.m. at a gas station at Archer Avenue and Roberts Road in the southern suburb, police said.

A car, reported stolen in Chicago, was found heavily damaged at the scene, police said. Surveillance footage showed two people flee the wrecked car and enter another car parked at the gas station.

Officers approached the two people in the car and one of them would not comply with the officers. After a struggle, the person fired several shots at one of the officers, according to police.

The Bedford Park Fire Department told ABC7 the officer was taken to Loyola Medical Center, initially reported to be stable.

Two people are in custody and two firearms were recovered, police told ABC.

No further information was immediately available.
