A well-known Italian restaurant in Galway city has received an infrequent negative review this week, sparking debate as to whether it was fair.
Zappi’s Restaurant is located on Eglington Street and serves authentically Italian dishes along with an extensive wine list.
The restaurant’s chefs have created a popular pasta selection and vast pizza options.

It has quite the good reputation in the city, which is why a recent bad review left yesterday was all the more surprising.
Left on TripAdvisor, the story begins with a customer claiming that group were sat down at 7.30pm and did not leave the restaurant until 10pm.

They claimed “waiters avoid coming over to your table to check up on guests.”
“We had to get up 4 times to ask if our food was ready, they mentioned ‘you are next on the list’ each time and then continued to keep us waiting.”
The review continued that the food wasn’t up to their standard when it arrived.
“We never leave a bad review but this was one of the most infuriating restaurant experiences we have ever had.,” they concluded.
However this experience is in sharp contrast to the vast majority of customers at Zappi’s. The restaurant has 468 five-star reviews and only eight one-star reviews.
This means that for every 60ish people who leave a glowing review, one personuwas left unhappy.
Not a bad track record in fairness. The most recent five star review says:
“Excellent meal with great service. There were 7 of us and we had a lovely meal. The prices are reasonable, restaurant menu lovely and food was excellent.”
