Ben Mendelsohn’s Dior Revolution Comes to Life in ‘The New Look’ Trailer

The much awaited teaser for The New Look was unveiled, giving viewers a glimpse into the upcoming biopic about the life and legacy of legendary fashion designer Christian Dior.

The film, starring the great actor Ben Mendelsohn as Dior, brings audiences to the glitter and intrigue of 1940s Paris, which was on the verge of a fashion revolution.

Set in post-World War II Paris, The New Look follows the spectacular rise of Christian Dior, a visionary designer aiming to revolutionise the fashion industry.

The ten-episode series digs into the complicated story of how Christian Dior, Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche), and their contemporaries survived the horrors of World War II and gave birth to modern design.

It also reunites Mendelsohn with the showrunner of Bloodline, Todd A. Kessler. Kessler created, wrote, directed, and executive produced The New Look.

The show’s preview hints that tensions will erupt between Dior and Chanel as the former gains popularity and Chanel’s position as the world’s most famous fashion designer is jeopardised.

“Christian Dior ruined French couture, and I’m coming back to save it,” Chanel says at one point, before dismissively asking, “You think Dior is fashion?”

Dior is also heard telling Lucien Lelong (John Malkovich) that “Chanel can be very treacherous.”

On February 14, three episodes of The New Look will be released on Apple TV+. From then until April 3, one episode will be released each Wednesday.
