Bending Makes a Comeback in Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Teaser

Those who have watched Avatar: The Last Airbender are in for a wild ride. The official trailer for Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the classic animated series has debuted, and it satisfies all of our wildest fears.

The trailer begins with a wide image of a barren countryside devastated by the Fire Nation’s relentless onslaught. Aang, portrayed by Gordon Cormier, emerges from his frigid hibernation, confused and disoriented. We next get a glance of Aang’s world, with the majestic Southern Water Tribe, the vivid Earth Kingdom, and the huge Fire Nation all depicted in breathtaking detail.

However, this is not just a nostalgia trip. The teaser suggests darker topics and a more mature tone than the original series. We get a peek at Zuko’s inner struggle, Katara’s fierce drive, and Sokka’s quick wit and cunning. The action portions are particularly thrilling, exhibiting the bending powers in their full grandeur.

Perhaps the most thrilling component of the trailer is the voiceover by Zach Tyler Eisen, the original Aang. His familiar voice immediately transports us back to the world of Avatar, reminding us why we fell in love with the story in the first place.

The much anticipated Netflix release of Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is set for February 22.

The first season features eight one-hour episodes, so fans can expect an intense experience.
