Benedict Cumberbatch Experienced ‘Sleepless Nights’ After a Home Invasion

After a cook with a fish knife broke into their North London home, Benedict Cumberbatch and his family were afraid for their lives.

Jack Bissell, the armed invader, was identified as a former chef at the Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair.

The 35-year-old slammed the front door of the Marvel star’s multi-million dollar home and yelled, “I know you’ve moved here, I hope it burns down,” according to Daily Mail.

The celebrity and his wife, and three kids were at home when the assailant yelled his threats.

Reports say that the 46-year-old property was also damaged by the former cook, who spit on the intercom and threw plants against the wall.

Later, the police caught him because they got his DNA from his spit on the intercom.

“Naturally, all of the family were absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to get in and hurt them,” a person with knowledge of the situation told the outlet.

“Luckily, it never went that far. Benedict and Sophie have had many sleepless nights since worrying that they may be targeted again,” said the source. “The fact that it was a targeted intrusion makes it a lot more scary.”

After Bissel pleaded guilty on May 10, the court gave him a fine and told the Cumberbatch family to stay away from him for three years.

Also, the facts of the case couldn’t be told until they “successfully challenged blanket reporting restrictions this week,” according to a British tabloid.

But it’s still not clear how Bissell and Cumberbatch know each other.
