Like previous B2G1 sales event, Amazon’s latest pre-Black Friday 2023 promotion includes thousands of items. You can mix-and-match across categories, including video games, toys, and more–the cheapest item in your cart will be marked down to zero dollars. Target is also hosting a buy two, get one free sale of its own, but keep in mind that books in particular tend to cost less at Amazon.
If you can’t find three books you want, remember that you can mix-and-match. There are plenty of eligible video games for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch, including a bunch of recently released games. We have a handy list of the game deals right here.

Video game graphic novels
Below, you’ll find some solid reading material based on the worlds of Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and Cyberpunk 2077. IDW Publishing’s Sonic the Hedgehog graphic novels are pretty fantastic, as these stories combine colorful art with exciting stories that have become big hits within the Sonic fan community.
Batman graphic novels
Batman is a pretty safe bet when it comes to comic books in case you’re looking to do some holiday shopping, and the selection below includes some of the Dark Knight’s classic adventures mixed with more modern tales. The Dark Knight Returns was a groundbreaking mini-series when it was first released and a very nice slipcase edition is on sale. Alternatively, there are a few other cult-classic stories available like Dark Victory, The Long Halloween, and Damned.
Spider-Man graphic novels
Another superhero that everyone loves, Spider-Man has been swinging around New York City for decades and has racked up a sizable number of compelling stories to read through. Below you’ll find classics like Maximum Carnage and Kraven’s Last Hunt, more modern adventures from the last couple of years, and some Spider-Verse flavor with Gwen and Miles Morales trade paperbacks.
More Marvel comics and omnibuses
For a more general option, you can check out these omnibus editions of some of Marvel’s biggest stories. There’s the original Secret Wars that got the ball rolling on event comics, and decades later, a new Secret Wars upped the ante with a reality-spanning conflict. Then there’s Civil War, a fantastic blockbuster of a comic thanks to the rich artwork of Steve McNiven and Jason Aaron’s run of Thor is one of the definitive explorations of the mighty Asgardian.
More graphic novels
Outside of Marvel, there’s a wide number of publishers and creators to check out. Bill Watterson, author of Calvin and Hobbes fame, recently released a book called The Mysteries; Alan Moore and Steve Gibbon’s Watchmen still makes for gripping reading; and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is a bleak look at the future of everyone’s favorite pizza-eating shinobi.
Art books and guides
Maybe you’re in the mood to see how the foundations for your favorite video games, TV series, and movies were made, and Amazon has no shortage of books detailing that creative process. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us series is explored in two books, Studio Ghibli can go behind the scenes of Howl’s Moving Castle, and you can swing across the Spider-Verse in a pair of gorgeous art books.
Novel box sets and series
If you’d like for some more classical reading material instead, then now is a great time to curl up by the fire with an ice-cold beverage. That’s right, George Martin’s Game of Thrones books are included, and you can even pick up a deluxe leatherbound set. Other iconic fantasy box sets in the sale include The Lord of the Rings and Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive. You can even get a leatherbound Lord of the Rings set to go with your Game of Thrones.
Manga box sets
Amazon has big deals on manga box sets right now, and these also make for excellent gifts for any anime fan in your home. These are massive collections of fan-favorite properties like Tokyo Ghoul, My Hero Academia, and One Piece, and they all ship in collectible slipcases that come with a few extras. Remember, you can buy two and get one free–you’re saving a ton of cash if you go this route.
Berserk manga
Created by the late mangaka Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a dark fantasy series that has been celebrated over the years for its mature storyline and impressive art. The single trade paperbacks are nice, but the deluxe editions are fantastic oversized reprints of those stories that gives the saga a more premium presentation.
Avatar The Last Airbender
Ever wondered what happened to Aang and his friends after they saved the day? Dark Horse’s line of Avatar graphic novels will answer that question for you as they explore the aftermath of the Fire Nation’s global conflict and the impact it left behind on several characters.
More manga
If you just want to dip your toes into manga, then these are some quick and easy books to check out. Jujutsu Kaisen is a supernatural action series that doesn’t hold back, Chainsaw Man is a brutal adventure, and Hellsing puts a gruesome spin on the vampire genre.
