‘Better Call Saul’ Ends Subtly Following Emmy Rejection

Despite receiving 53 nominations over six seasons, the critically praised AMC drama Better Call Saul did not win a single Emmy Award.

Bob Odenkirk had nominations in major categories such as Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series during the final season, but none of them resulted in victories.

The announcement of the shutout caused debate and disappointment among fans and commentators. Many people vented their concerns on social media, challenging the Emmy voting process and emphasizing the show’s numerous other awards, such as Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.

Better Call Saul served as a precursor to the legendary Breaking Bad, following Jimmy McGill’s metamorphosis into the ethically flawed lawyer, Saul Goodman.

While Better Call Saul clearly deserved accolades, the 2023 Emmy season was especially competitive. Shows such as Succession, Ted Lasso, and Squid Game dominated the nominations, leaving little opportunity for other candidates.

Finally, the sheer number of terrific television in recent years may have contributed to Better Call Saul’s elusive Emmy nomination.

Despite the Emmy snub, Better Call Saul has a lasting impact and has unquestionably earned its spot among the best television dramas of all time.
