Beyoncé has made history as the first Black woman to top the Hot Country Songs chart with her current single, Texas Hold ‘Em.
This achievement comes after she received considerable praise for her new country recordings from famous musicians in the genre, like Maren Morris and Lainey Wilson, who warmly welcomed the 42-year-old superstar into the community.
Texas Hold ‘Em, which was launched on February 11 and quickly delivered to country radio two days later, dethroned Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ duet I Remember Everything, which had topped the charts for 20 weeks in a row.
Beyoncé’s other country album, 16 Carriages, was released on the same day and debuted at number nine on the chart.
Her two new country songs debuted in a Verizon commercial that aired during CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII.
The Grammy-winning performer, who is married to rapper Jay-Z, is set to release Act II, a full-length country album, on March 29, following her 2022 Renaissance LP.
Her remarkable accomplishment establishes her as the first and only woman to top both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.
A Twitter user, @jussatto, reported their experience requesting the song from Ada, Oklahoma-based station KYKC, only to receive an email indicating that the station does not play Beyoncé because it is largely focused on country music.
